Raptors Fall Short Against Owls

Rockville, MD: On Wednesday, December 11th, the Montgomery College Raptors hosted the PGCC Owls in a Region 20 conference matchup. The Raptors came into the game 7-2, while the Owls came in undefeated at 6-0. The Raptors fell 83-67.
The Raptors came into the game short handed, with two players out with injury and a third playing under the weather. That did not hinder them at the start, with the Raptors ending the first quarter up 14-12 behind 8 points from Tiana Carney. They continued to keep pace in the second quarter, but a late stretch of turnovers let PGCC push the lead to 8 points at halftime. The score held for the third quarter, with Litzy Lujan-Gonzales scoring 7 points in the period. However, fatigue caught up with the Raptors in the fourth quarter, and they did not score their first points until 6:10 in the quarter. On the other hand, the Owls closed the game out by slowing things down and getting easy layups or free throws.
Stats to note:
-
Tiana Carney led the Raptors with 17 points and 4 rebounds
-
Yaheera Williams and Kennedy Clifton dominated the board, each grabbing 15 rebounds
-
