Women’s Basketball Has Three Double-Double Scorers in Non-Conference Nail Biter

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team hosted the Raptors of Montgomery College (MD) Saturday afternoon for a non-conference game. After completion of the contest, the Statesmen moved to 3-6 overall, 3-3 in conference play.

 

Richard Bland took an early lead over the Raptors, leading 20-14 after 10 minutes of play. Montgomery came out strong in the second period scoring 25 points, one more than Richard Bland, however Richard Bland held the 42-39 lead at the break. The Statesmen added 23 points in the third and 17 in the fourth, but allowed the Raptors to add 20 and 28 points in the third and fourth quarters, and could not hold on for the win, falling 84-87 in the non-conference contest.

 

Ni'Ana Hill lead the way while scoring her third double-double of the season with 26 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and one steal. Aryauna Brent added 18 points, five assists, four steals, and three rebounds on the day. DaNiya McClure scored her third double-double of the season with 17 points, 11 rebounds, two steals, and one assist, and Khamaya Earley scored her second double-double of the season with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and two steals. Ma'Liyah Hodges chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds in the loss.

 

Richard Bland shot 37.5 from the field, 33.3% from the perimeter, and 66.7% from the charity stripe.

 

The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team next hosts Cape Fear Community College on Wednesday, December 11th. The conference matchup will begin at 5pm.
