Anne Arundel, MD - After a tough loss on Tuesday night, the Raptors looked to rebound against NJCAA DIII top five team, the Anne Arundel Riverhawks. On the road, the Raptors struck early and the defense held strong to lead the Raptors to a 5-0 victory.
MC was on the front foot from the kickoff and in the second minute took the lead. Freshman midfielder Caio Braga found sophomore Deric Pocasangre behind the Riverhawk defense and Pocasangre finished for the 1-0 lead. After the goal, the Riverhawks pushed possession and looked for an equalizer, however the Raptors defense held strong. After a half hour, the Raptors could strike again, with sophomore Abdoul Anounkou finding the back of the net in the 33rd minute for a 2-0 lead. The score would remain the same heading into half time.
The second half was quiet until the 60th minute, when the Raptors would strike again. Off the corner, freshman Sota Matsuo delivered a ball to the back post. Though tightly marked, sophomore Andres Javitt was able to rise over his defender and put his header back across goal and into the net. The Raptors led 3-0. Late on, the Raptors fitness was on display, as Pocasangre and Anounkou would each find a second goal after the 80th minute. The Raptors won 5-0 to get back to winning ways and looking to keep pressure on conference leaders CCBC-Essex.
