ARNOLD, Md. – Division I Montgomery College dealt the Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team a 5-0 loss Saturday afternoon in NJCAA Region 20 action at Siegert Field. The Riverhawks (0-4) will look to bounce back Tuesday in a 4 p.m. divisional game at College of Southern Maryland.
The Raptors (5-0-1) got on the board in the 25th minute and doubled their lead less than a minute later. Montgomery scored once more in the 38th minute to hold a 3-0 lead headed into halftime.
Jonathan Khoun had a goal and an assist in the second half for Montromery, netting his fifth goal of the season in the 53rd minute before assisting the Raptors' final strike in the 83rd minute.
AACC's best chance of the game came courtesy of two players appearing in their first game of the season. In the 40th minute, Ever Santos played the ball ahead to Cheik Kangoute, who fired through a pair of defenders, only to be thwarted by Raptors' keeper Xavier Mendia.
Mendia made one save in 74 minutes before giving way to Juan Martinez. AACC keeper Olvin Martinez made four saves: three in the first half and one in the second.
Montgomery outshot AACC, 24-1, and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
After traveling to Southern Maryland Tuesday, AACC returns home to host Frederick Community College at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 19. The athletic department is collaborating with the College's Black Male Institute for a fun evening of fellowship at Thursday's game. Admission is free.
