Raptors Collect Wins Over Carroll and Brookdale

Rockville, MD - The Montgomery College Men's Soccer team wrapped up the third week of the season with wins over Carroll Community College and Brookdale Community College.  

On Thursday, September 8th, the Raptors hosted MDJUCO Conference foe Carroll Community College. Play under the lights, the Raptors put on a show, collecting seven second half goals to complete a 10-0 victory. The match stayed tied through the first half hour, as Carroll put 10 players behind the ball to deny the Raptors space in the final third. In the 33rd minute, the Raptors finally broke through, with Sophomore team captain Andres Javitt getting on the end of a pass from Sophomore Abdoul Anounkou to open the scoring. Sophomore midfielder Diego Ramirez would add a second in the fortieth minute and Javitt would strike again just before halftime to take a 3-0 lead into the locker room. 

In the second half, the Raptors figured out how to unlock the Carroll defense and added seven in the second half for a 10-0 win. The win moved the Raptors to 4-1 overall, 3-0 in Conference play.  

Two days later, the Raptors hosted New Jersey based Brookdale Community College. The Raptors started well, with Javitt getting onto the end of a through pass from Freshman Defender Sota Matsuo. Javitt controlled the ball, rounded a scrambling goalkeeper, and deposited the ball into the back of the net to make the score 1-0. Ten minutes later, Brookdale would even the scoring, with a through-ball from midfield finding space for the striker, who placed the ball past the charging goalkeeper.  

The second half would remain tight late into the game. In the 85th minute, Javitt would force a turnover and find Freshman midfielder Caio Braga. Braga quickly played through the overlapping right back Hurrich Engoue, who would place a first time shot past the goalkeeper to secure the win and bring the Raptors season to a 5-1 record.

• Andres Javitt led the way for the Raptors, collecting four goals and three assists.  

• Diego Ramirez chipped in with two goals and three assists.  

• Freshman goalkeeper William Iraheta started his first game for the Raptors and recorded his first shutout. 

• Freshman Centerback Brian Noutchang scored his first goal for the Raptors. 

• Andres Javitt's goal was his sixth of the season, taking the team lead in goals for the season. 

• Hurrich Engoue's goal was his first of the 2022 season.
