Rockville, MD - A new era for MC women's soccer begins under the leadership of head coach Licia Holsendorff. The season opener against the Carroll Community College Lynx also launched the inaugural women's soccer program for Carroll CC, but it was the Raptors who ended the evening with a 9-0 shutout.
Prior to the start of the game, the MC community honored the memory of former women's soccer student-athlete Madelyn Guerra, who passed away on July 20th, 2024. Members of her family were in attendance to receive a framed #20 jersey and the department of Athletics announced that Madelyn's jersey number would be retired.
The game was in the Raptors control from the start. The lady Lynx had no answer for the attacking power of the Raptors, conceding 5 goals in the first half and another 4 in the second. The Raptors defense was rarely tested, and completed a shutout. #7 Kendra Wotchuin was the star of the game, finishing with 2 goals and remained heavily active on the attacking side all evening. #10 Stefanie Barrios led the team in scoring with a hat-trick, along with 2 assists.
Next up, The Raptors travel to Allegany College of Maryland on Tuesday, August 27th for a 2:00PM Kick-off.
