Raptors Win at Christendom

Front Royal, VA - Montgomery College was back in action for their third road game of the season on Saturday, October 8, 2022. The Raptors traveled to play a non-conference match with Christendom College; who they beat 2-0 earlier in the year in Rockville.

Despite generating several great goal scoring opportunities early, MC was could not find the opening goal until the 30th minute. Madelyn Guerra placed a Mara Pizzano corner kick in the back of the goal. It took just five more minutes for the Raptors to double their lead when Guerra was able to dribble past the backline and place her second goal of the game past a diving GK. The game looked to head into the half 2-0, but the Crusaders was able to get on the board in the final second of the half Colleen Kosten followed up a shot off the crossbar to cut the deficit to one goal.

The Raptors continued to move the ball well and find goal-scoring opportunities, but did not get their third goal until the 60th minute when Jenny Phan dropped a ball to Juliana Franco who hit a first-time rocket towards the near post and past the diving Crusader goalkeeper. Christendom made the game interesting as Catherine Thomas scored on a direct free kick from 25 yards out to cut the lead to one. The Raptors were able to stay strong the final eight minutes of the match and travel home with a 3-2 victory. Montgomery College is now 8-3 on the season and will be in action on Tuesday, October 11th at WVU Potomac State College in Keyser, WV.
