The Raptors played two non-conference games against Rowan of Gloucester and Union College of Clark, NJ on September 22 and September 24, winning both games 2-0.
Hosting Rowan College, Sophomore Maila Hudson scored her first goal of the season from a great pass by Mara Pizzano to put the Raptors up 1-0. Emilia Webb added the insurance goal in the 69th minute and the MC defense held strong to maintain the shutout against the Road Runners.
Two days later, the Raptors traveled to New Jersey to take on Union College. Nieve Barry, assisted by Natalia Sartor, got the Raptors on the board in the 13th minute. Sabrina Di Marzio scored the second goal for the Raptors off an Emilia Webb assist.
Montgomery College has been resolute in defending this season. They currently have six shut outs on the season and Lizzy Mayo ranks at the top of the conference and Region XX for Goals Against Average. The six shutouts puts the Raptors in a tie for fourth most nationally.
The Raptors will return to action on Thursday, October 6th at 5:00 pm against Harford College. This will also be sophomore night for Montgomery College where the team will recognize Nieve Barry, Aidan Carpen, Elijae Cobbs, Maila Hudson, Lizzy Mayo, Mara Pizzano, and Jho Quinteros. Sophomore recognition will take place before the match.
