Raptors Walk It Off In Game One, Squander Scoring Chances In Game Two

ROCKVILLE, Md. ? The Montgomery College softball program won the first contest courtesy of a walk-off error by the Dragons (4-3) while Howard CC scored seven runs over the final two innings of game two (10-3) to split the twin bill.

With one down and Morgan Lynn standing on third, Kyndall Hopkins popped the ball up into shallow left where the left fielder caught the ball and fired home as Lynn risked it all for the victory, the gamble paid off for MC as the throw sailed high and popped out of the leaping catcher?s glove for an unlikely last at-bat win in the opener, 4-3.

Lynn was a perfect 3-for-3 (1.000) in that first tilt, scoring the game-winning run and reaching for a fourth time via a walk.

Hopkins had one of the team?s two extra-base hits on the afternoon, legging out a triple and a single to go along with crossing the plate once prior to the final play.

Lesa Mouzon had a fantastic day both in the circle and the batter?s box, earning the win over 6.1 innings of two-run (one earned) softball plus three strikeouts on top of two hits (single and double) where she scored twice, drove in an RBI, and drawing a base on balls.

Jenna Jew was the major run producer, accounting for three of the club?s five RBIs on the day with a trio of singles.

The Raptors? hit leader came from behind the plate, batting .571 (4-for-7), two runs scored, and a free pass.
