Raptors Track and Field Competes at Towson University Twilight Open
It was another excellent weather day for the Raptors' Track & Field events. For our
freshmen, the day began with Kendall Wideman (FR) competing in both the
Long Jump and High Jump. Although the event schedule posed some challenges,
Kendall displayed remarkable resilience and determination. In the Long Jump, he
secured 3rd place, impressively outperforming several athletes from 4-year
colleges. In the High Jump, Kendall started off strong, clearing a higher bar than he
had in the previous meet. This bold move paid off, boosting his confidence as he
looked ahead and trusted the process. He concluded the competition in 3rd place.
With Kendall back in form, he now needs to refine a few technical aspects as he
prepares for the upcoming regional track and field meet.
For the second consecutive week, Chisenga Mwape (FR) achieved two personal
bests. He clocked a time of 56.30 seconds in the 400 meters and finished the 200
meters in 24.61 seconds. Following the meet, Chisenga remarked, "I need to run
faster." He will have the opportunity to improve his times next week as he
competes against teams from our region.
Look what the wind brought in… Promise Whitmore (FR), freshly finished with
a long basketball season, arrived just in time to lace up her spikes and compete
against local colleges. This was Promise's debut in college track and field. She
participated in the 100 meters, finishing with a time of 13.48 seconds, and the 200
meters in 28.05 seconds. After the races, Promise admitted she was feeling
nervous, but she is determined to improve and demonstrate that she can do better in
next week's competition.
