Women's Basketball Wins Fifth Straight, Jumps to #5 in the National Rankings

On February 1, the MC women's basketball team coasted to an easy win against Allegany College of Maryland 116-37.

The Raptors scored 37 points in the first quarter as they held Allegany to only nine points in the first half. Everyone that suited up for Montgomery played and everyone scored. Five Raptors scored in double figures: Caleema Johnson (31 points), Sheri Addison (21 points) and Armonie Lomax (24 points) combining for 76 points. Jewel Johnson had seven assists to go along with her 11 points. Tyra Lyles added 12 points off the bench and Addison had a double double with 11 steals in the 79-point victory.

On February 4, the Raptors women's basketball team held their Division II opponents, Hagerstown CC, to only 37 points as they Raptors scored at will putting up 96 points. Raptors freshman, Caleema Johnson and the entire Hagerstown team both had 19 points at halfway through the game. Johnson finished with a game high 32 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals followed up by Lomax with 29 points. Anu Bamijoko added 10 points and 13 rebounds while Jewel Johnson and Sheri Addison each added 10 points.

On February 7, the Raptors picked up their 19th win of the season against the Northern Virginia Nighthawks 92-62. Lomax finished with 32 points while Addison added 22 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Caleema Johnson had 18 points and 10 rebounds while Jewel Johnson recorded 10 points and nine rebounds. Anu Bamijoko added 8 points and 14 rebounds in the Raptors 30-point victory.

The MC women's basketball team travel to NJ on Saturday February 11 to play Mercer County Community College for a noon tip off. The Raptors will have sophomore recognition day and wrap up the regular season at 6 p.m. on the Rockville campus on Monday February 13 with a home contest against Potomac State College of WVU .
