Q: Are student-athletes offered housing at Montgomery College?

A: Montgomery College is not responsible for any arrangements made by student-athletes regarding off-campus housing. While athletic staff may assist student-athletes with finding a nearby housing location (D-1 programs only), it is the responsibility of the student-athlete to secure living space and maintain that space. Any agreements made between multiple student-athletes to obtain one living space are the decision of those student-athletes. All student-athletes must make their own financial and living arrangements. Binding contracts between student-athletes and housing officials, like lease agreements, are the business of those involved and not Montgomery College. It is encouraged that before making this decision to live off-campus, develop a financial budget that would include costs like rent, electricity, security deposit, food, household items, water, and possible rental insurance be calculated along with any school expense. Please note that if any student-athlete leaves after a semester and has not signed an official lease, those still living in that off-campus housing must assume those costs or find another roommate.

Points to consider when renting:

  • Think about location, public transportation, laundry, cleanliness, parking, and security.
  • Visit the Public Transportation Options on the MC website: https://www.montgomerycollege.edu/about-mc/campuses-and-locations/transportation-and-parking.html
  • Bus schedule information: https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/DOT-Transit/routesandschedules/rideonroutes.html
