Raptors' Swept CCBC Dundalk Lions in Baseball Season Opener

Raptors' Swept CCBC Dundalk Lions in Baseball Season Opener

Raptors' first victories of the season came as Julio Suero struck out nine batters in the 10-5 victory in game one, and Miles LeVere doubled in the 8th inning to drove in the winning run to give Montgomery the 4-3 win.

Suero, Raptors' Freshman pitcher, allowed just three earned runs over 6 1/3 innings and 31 batters faced. Offensively the Raptors got off to a hot start, scoring eight runs in the first four innings. Seamus Harrigan and Daniel Weeden each provided two RBIs.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Dundalk scored first, but Ethan Semones' solo home run for MC at the top of the second inning answered and tied the game at one. The Raptors got another run in the top of the third inning, but the Lions responded with two runs in the bottom half to pull ahead 3-2. In the top of the fifth inning, Montgomery's Jaden Minnick would hit a pop-up to the pitcher and Matt Fry tied the game.

Freshman Nathan Proctor was unyielding on the mound for Montgomery. Proctor allowed three earned runs over six innings pitched and faced 26 batters with five strikeouts. Ty Morris relieved Proctor in the seventh inning to face six batters, record one strikeout and allowed only one hit. LeVere's double that drove in Minnick in the top of the extra frame would prove to be the winning run for Montgomery.
