Raptors Celebrate Sophomore Night

Rockville, MD - After a 10 day break the Montgomery College was back in action on Thursday, October 6th, for their final home match of the regular season. The Raptors recognized sophomores Nieve Barry, Aidan Carpan, Elijae Cobbs, Maila Hudson, Lizzy Mayo, Mara Pizzano, and Jho Quinteros before the match with region foe, Harford College. The game was a rematch of the 2021 Region XX final between the two squads in which Montgomery College earned a 1-0 victory in overtime. Unfortunately for the Raptors, the outcome was not the the same as the Fighting Owls won 2-0.

Harford got on the board early in the match when a handball in the center of the field 19 yards from goal gave Harford a free kick from just outside the box. Julia Skinner finished the opportunity to give the 1-0 lead to the visitors. The Fighting Owls continued to pressure the Raptor backline throughout the first half and found their second and final breakthrough in the 36th minute when Remy Rollins was able to score 12 yards out from goal.

The Raptors struggled to get anything going offensively throughout the match. The offense had three shots, their lowest total of the season since the opening game against Monroe College. Lizzy Mayo finished with nine saves in the game.
