Raptors Shut Down Lions

Raptors Shut Down Lions

Rockville, MD: The 21st ranked Montgomery College Raptors took on the CCBC Dundalk Lions in a Region 20 matchup, winning by 21 points. In the first half, the Raptors followed the scouting report to a tee, limiting the Lions to only 19 points in 20 minutes of game time. Isaiah Gill led the way offensively with 15 points. However, the Raptors were only up 34-19 at half due to poor shooting from the field.

The second half was a high octane affair, with both teams combining for 104 points. While the Raptors had led comfortably through most of the game, back to back three pointers by Hussain Williams cut the lead to 7 with just under 6 minutes left. This did not deter the Raptors, as they proceeded to go on a 13-2 run which was capped off by a three by Benito Cala. That run put the game away, and the Raptors won by a comfortable 21 points. The Raptors are now 7-1 on the season, and 2-0 in Region 20 play.

Stats to note:
  • Isaiah Gill had 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists
  • Mati Szpin continued his streak of double doubles, scoring 17 points and grabbing 15 rebounds
  • The Raptors held CCBC Dundalk's top 3 scorers to a combined 16/58 from the field
