Raptors take late lead to seal the win
Rockville, MD – A tough conference matchup between the Raptors and Skipjacks went down to the wire. The Raptors trailed most of the game but were able to take the lead in the final seconds and escape with a win. The Raptors currently hold an 11-13 overall record, and 3-7 conference record.
Chesapeake came out strong in the first half, overwhelming the Raptors with multiple 3-pointers, leading to a commanding double-digit lead. The Raptors, however, slowly climbed their way back into the game as Chesapeake began to slow down. #1 Kanari Smith, provided two huge 3-pointers in the first half, while #5 brahim Abdulmateen-Robinson led in first half scoring with 10 points. The teams went into halftime with the Skipjacks up by 10.
Despite being down most of the game, the Raptors continued to chip away at the score, even as Chesapeake knocked down big shots. It took nearly 40 minutes, but with .53 seconds left on the clock, the Raptors finally took their first lead and would refuse to give it back. The Raptors picked up a crucial win Wednesday night as Region Tournament play is fast approaching.
