Raptors Volleyball Home Opener August 24th - Season Preview

The Montgomery College volleyball team begins the 2021 season on Tuesday, August 24, at 7 p.m., with the program's first game against Frederick CC on the Rockville Campus in the Main Gym of the PE Building. The game will be the Raptors' first opportunity to play a competitive match in nearly two years.

The Raptors finished the 2019 campaign in the NJCAA DII Volleyball National Tournament as the No. 8th team in the country and an overall record of 21-7. Head Coach Victoria Kenno is entering her sixth season at the helm, with an intense class of incoming freshmen and two experienced returning Raptors, Simay Aybak and Kira Ng.

Ng is a stand-out setter from Magruder Highschool and was selected as one of the MDJUCO Athletes of the Month for September 2019, selected to the 2019 MDJUCO All-Conference Team, the 2019 NJCAA DII All-Region Team, and the 2019 NJCAA DII Region XX All-Tournament Team.

Aybak is a returning libero from Izmir, Turkey, that averaged nearly three digs a set and recorded a total of 190 digs in her 28 matches played and was on the team that went to the National Tournament in 2019 with Ng.

"I want my Raptors team to be a powerhouse and work towards heading to another national tournament." Coach Kenno said when asked about her expectation of the season. She added, "We have so much depth and so many talented players. I am really excited to get the season going and showcase the competitive drive and determination of this team throughout the season."

Masks are required for all fans, per guidelines set forth by Montgomery College and Montgomery County.
