Raptors Finish Out Regular Season with Dominant Victory

Frederick, MD - On Monday, October 17, Montgomery College traveled to Frederick looking to start another winning streak heading into the post-season. Despite an early hiccup, the Raptors attack provided the difference and saw Montgomery College come home with a 5-2 win.  

The Cougars got on the board first, capitalizing on an MC mistake to take the lead just ten minutes into the game. Following the goal, the Raptors controlled the match and generated numerous scoring opportunities, but were unable to beath the Frederick goalkeeper. In the 32nd minute, Madelyn Guerra finally beat the keeper to tie the game at one. The goal seemed to break the logjam for the Raptors. Just four minutes later Guerra scored again to give the Raptors a 2-1 lead. Shortly after, she completed her hattrick with a goal in the 40th minute. Just before half, Ayla Khorsand intercepted a pass out of the back and went straight to goal to make the score 4-1.

Frederick scored the first goal of the second half to cut the lead to 4-2. The Raptors added an insurance goal when Emilia Webb got behind the defense and struck the ball just past the Frederick goalkeeper. The Raptors walked away with a 5-2 win. The five goals represents their best offensive output this season.  

Montgomery College will now host the NJCAA Region XX Semi-Final against Hagerstown on Saturday, October 29th at 1:00 pm. Harford, who won the conference and earned the top seed will await the winner on Wednesday, November 2nd at 4:00 pm.
