Raptors Women’s Basketball Recorded Four Conference Wins in Five Days

As the Raptors start up the second half of their season, the women's basketball team rattled off four conference wins in a matter of five days. The run started on Wednesday, January 29th with a three-point road victory over Harford Community College, the team took the day off and then won by 30 points at College of Southern MD on Friday. Montgomery returned to Rockville on February 1st to defend their home court against Prince George's Community College 78-62. Raptors finished up their run with a trip to Pennsylvania, where the Raptors brought home a 74-41 victory against Westmoreland CCC.

Jordan Odom led the Raptors offensively with 22 points, shooting eight for eight from the free-throw line as Mariah Ellis with 19 points, Nusaibah Rashad dropped 17 points, and Pryncess Lawson followed up with 10 points to down Harford CC 76-73.

Rashad netted a big game for the Raptors in the Raptors 83-53 win over College of Southern MD with 19 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. Odom and Ellis each scored 17 points, and Karon Williams recorded 14 points shooting 71% from the field and 100% from the free-throw line.

With the game tied at 50 after three quarters, the Raptors scored 28 points in the final quarter to defeat Prince George's CC by 16 points. Odom shot 50% from the field, 50% from three, and 100% from the line to score 22 points with 11 rebounds and seven assists. Rashad dropped 19 points, and Williams had 13 points, and both shot five from six from the charity stripe.

The Raptors Khienya Benjamin recorded a season-high 22 points with 12 rebounds and eight assists at Westmoreland CCC. Williams dropped 16 points, Ellis scored 15 points while Lawson added 11 points with nine rebounds. Saraphina Pierre-Louis pulled down 16 rebounds and added 6 points in the 74-41 victory.

The Raptors' next home game is Saturday, February 8th, at 1:30 pm against Frederick Community College. February 8th is the First Annual Montgomery County Public Schools Day. The MC Raptors basketball teams are inviting all Montgomery County elementary, middle and high schools to come out, to enjoy an exciting afternoon of basketball, and help cheer on the MC Raptors to victory!
