Raptors Women’s Basketball Begins Season with Two Road Victories; Head Coach Tarlouh Gasque Reached 200th Career Win

Raptors women's basketball took two wins on the road as they participated in Sullivan's Season Tip-Off Tournament in Loch Sheldrake, NY, to open up their 2019-2020 season. The Raptors' win on Sunday against Hudson Valley marked the 200th career win for Head Coach Tarlouh Gasque at Montgomery College.

On Saturday, Montgomery defeated the host school Sullivan County Community College 76-74. Two of Khienya Benjamin seven points came as the clock expired to give the Raptors a two-point victory. Offensively, Mariah Ellis led the way for the Raptors with 25 points, but Nusaibah Rashad pulled down 25 boards to go with 17 points. Pryncess Lawson came off the bench to contribute 9 points and eight rebounds.

On the second day of the Sullivan Tip-off, the Raptors downed Hudson Valley CC 82-71. The Raptors came out of the gate scoring 22 first-quarter points while holding their opponents to only 7 points. Nusaibah Rashad led the way for the Raptors with 22 points and 19 rebounds with three assists, two steals, and a block. Teona Smith added 12 points, and Odom contributed 10 points and eight rebounds in the 11-point victory.

The Raptors first home game will be Thursday November, 14th against Rowan College at Burlington County at 5:30pm. The Raptors will hold their annual Montgomery College Tip-off Classic November 15th and 16th where MC will play on Saturday at 5pm and at 3pm on Sunday.
