Women's Basketball Falls to Chesapeake in MDJUCO Quarterfinals, Set Sights on Region XX Tourney

For the second straight season, Montgomery College Raptors women's basketball team entered the Maryland Juco Tournament as the No. 3 seed and for the second year in a row, they were upset in the quarterfinal match-up against the No. 6 seed Chesapeake Skipjacks by six points, 71-65 at Prince George's Community College.

The rematch against Chesapeake on February 15 the season finale rematch was not favorable for the Raptors in opening game of Maryland JUCO Tournament. Montgomery College trailed by two points after the first quarter but then hit a wall in only scoring seven points in the second frame of the contest. MC trailed 39-21 at halftime but came out on an 11-0 run to start the second half. Montgomery outscored Chesapeake 27-19 in the fourth quarter but fell short of advancing to the second round. Lomax scored 11 points in the final frame and finished with a game-high 24 points and Anu Bamijoko recorded 12 points and 15 rounds in the contest. 

February 25, the Raptors enter the NJCAA DIII Region XX Tournament  as the #1 seed and will play in the Championship game against the winner of semi-final game between #2 Westmoreland and #3 Anne Arundel.  Westmoreland County Community College (PA) will host this year's NJCAA DIII Region XX Tournament.
