Raptors Women's Basketball 2016-17 Season Ends in the District G Championship Falling to WGTC

After the nationally ranked MC Raptors women's basketball team dominated the NJCAA Region XX Tournament the team traveled to Covington, Georgia to compete in the NJCAA District G Championship.

On Saturday, March 4th Raptors lost to the Region XVII Champions, West Georgia Tech College 81-70. The MC Raptors came out the gate strong scoring 20 points in the first quarter but then the team hit a wall only scoring seven points in the second quarter.

The Raptors went into halftime down 41-27. Montgomery looked as if they were back in control in the third quarter out scoring WGTC 21-15 and cut the deficit to singles digits. However, MC could not keep up with their opponent's intensity and complete the comeback in the fourth.

MC Freshman Caleema Johnson finished with a team-high 19 points while teammate Anu Bamijoko added 16 points and pulled down 19 rebounds. Sheri Addison scored 16 points and Armoni Lomax added 15 points in the District G Championship game.

The Raptors women's basketball team finished their season with a record of 22-7 overall record and the 2016-17 NJCAA Region XX Champions. Congratulations to the Montgomery College Raptors women's basketball team on an outstanding season!
