Raptors Compete At 7th Annual Adidas Trojan Challenge Track Meet

The Raptors Track team had a mixed bag of results from the weekend track meet in Mount Olive, North Carolina at the 7th Annual Adidas Trojan Challenge Track Meet. The meet was hosted by the University of Mount Olive, the home of the popular condiments Mt. Olive products we see in the local grocery stores. Upon arrival, the day before the meet the team had a great walk-through on the Mt Olive track enjoying the warm day and evening dinner together.

The meet got off to a great start where Lattera Dakka improved on his 1500-meter time from the previous week with a season-best time of 4.45.01, shaving off 8 seconds from the Betty S. Rogers meet last week. Lattera appears to be adjusting and starting to enjoy running the 1500 meters more than the 800 meters. He is looking forward to next week's challenge at the Towson meet.

Jabari Clarke, a speedy long legs raptor made his season debut in the 400-meters. He blasted out the blocks making up the staggered on the field coming through at the 200 meters around 21.37, taking full advantage of the wind at his back. Jabari finished the race in 51.22. After the race, Jabari said, "The race was fast." He believes in himself and knows he can go faster.  And to think he only had a very short time to get ready for the season. Coach Nelson is pleased with the progress Jabari is making thus far.
