November 10th, 2020 - Montgomery College Athletic Director Tarlouh Gasque is very proud to announce the hiring of Pedro Braz as the new head coach of the men's soccer program and athletic facility coordinator for Business development.

Having previously coached the MC Raptors from 2012 to 2014, Coach Braz is returning to the role after five seasons at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC.

In his first tenure with Montgomery College, Coach Braz led the men's soccer program to its most successful period in program history. The Raptors won the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference all three seasons under his leadership, losing only one conference game over that period. The Raptors appeared in three state NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournaments, finishing as runner-ups in 2012. Over three seasons, the Raptors had an overall record of 59-10-3.

"I am very happy to have Pedro return to Montgomery College. Considering his accomplishments in his prior tenure at Montgomery College, I look forward to positive outcomes from men's soccer and an increase in community outreach in his new role with business development for Athletics," said Athletic Director Tarlouh Gasque.

In addition to the team's on-field success during Braz’s first tenure, 70 student-athletes  continued their soccer career at NCAA D1, D2, D3, and NAIA programs.

"I would like to thank Tarlouh Gasque for the opportunity to return to Montgomery College. The new stadium and locker rooms for men and women's soccer show MC's strong commitment to both soccer programs. The facility provides the foundation we need to build on our previous success in bringing additional championships on and off the field to Montgomery College." said Braz.

In addition to his on-field role, Braz will serve as the coordinator for Business Development. In this role, Braz will help Montgomery College generate revenue from its athletic facilities through lease partnerships with external athletic and community programs. He will also lead the athletic department's fundraising for all sports.

While at Gallaudet, the Bison recorded the most conference wins in a season in program history (2015) and had its best overall season in program history (2018). Gallaudet earned four All-NEAC honors during Coach Braz's tenure, including three on the all-conference second team. In five seasons, 23 soccer student-athletes that he coached earned NEAC Scholar-Athlete honors.

Braz is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where he earned his degree in sociology and a minor in sport studies. He was a four-year starter for the Wildcats, where he was a defender. After graduating, Braz played professionally in his native Angola, from 2007-2009 he played in the first Division for two different teams. He continued his professional career in Puerto Rico and with Western Massachusetts Pioneers of the USL.

In addition to his college coaching positions, Coach Braz has been active in youth soccer throughout the Washington region, coaching for almost a decade at Arlington Soccer Association where he was named 2019-2020 travel coach of the year. Braz holds a "B" coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation, UEFA C, and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He currently resides in Washington, DC.
