Raptor’s Offense Dominates in Victory over Howard CC

Rockville The MC Men's Soccer team took on Howard Community College in MDJUCO conference clash on September 13. In what looked to be a tight affair between one loss teams, the Raptor struck early and often to build an early lead and ultimately come away with a 9-1 victory.

The night started poorly for the Raptors. In the fourth minute, Howard found space at the top of the box and slotted home a nice finish to take a 1-0 lead. The Howard lead would last for 30 seconds. Freshman Sota Matsuo placed a cross into the box that ultimately fell to Sophomore Andres Javitt who struck true from eight yards out to tie the game.

In the 18th minute, Sophomore striker Abdoul Anounkou placed a header behind the defense to Javitt, who struck for his second goal from just outside the box. Tweny seconds later the Raptors scored again to take a 3-1 lead. Freshman midfielder Ethan Lane collected a clearance from the Howard goalkeeper, drove twenty yards up field and Javitt peeled away from the Howard center backs. Lane found Javitt through for the break away, and Javitt found the near post to complete his hat trick.

Ten minutes later, the Raptors again collected goals in bunches, as Sophomore midfielder Deric Pocasangre, Anounkou, and Javitt each scored within a two minute span to give the Raptors a dominating 6-1 going into the break.

In the second half, Javitt added his fifth and final goal of the game off an assist from Sophomore midfielder Diego Ramirez in the 62nd minute. Freshman Defend defender Brian Noutchang would score off a set piece in the 84th minute with Matsuo getting the final goal a minute later with a free kick goal to the far post. The Raptors would walk out 9-1 winners.

Raptor Bites:

  • Javitt's five goals gave him 11 for the season and put him into first place nationally for goals scored.

  • Ethan Lane collected his first collegiate assist.

  • Sota Matsuo scored his second free kick goal of the season.
