Raptors Win on the Road Against Prince George’s CC Owls

Marlboro, MD – The MC Men's soccer team hit the road on September 6th to resume MDJUCO conference play. A 9-3 score line saw the Raptors capitalize on their chances in front of the goal while leaving work to be done across the backline.

The Raptors built an early lead, with Sophomore Midfielder Andres Javitt releasing striker Aboul Anounkou through on goal in the 8th minute. Anounkou, a Sophomore striker, would finish that chance and another one minute later to give the Raptors an early 2-0. In the 17th minute, Sophomore midfielder Diego Ramirez saw the goalkeeper off his line and chipped in a tidy strike from distance to extend the lead to 3-0. In the 36th minute, Sophomore Adam Addi got his first for the Raptors off a corner, as his header deflected off the shoulder of an Owl's defender and found its way to the back of the net and a 4-0 lead.

The Raptors were unable to hold the shutout into half time, however. The Owls connected on a quick combination in midfield and found space behind the left side of the Raptor's defense. Coming down the endline, the Owl's striker took advantage as both the Raptor's goalkeeper and center back anticipated a cross. Instead, the striker fired a shot that rebounded off the Raptor's goalkeeper and into the near post. With the goal, the Raptors took a 4-1 to half time.

In the second half, the Raptors attack again found success, as Sophomore midfielder Deric Pocasangre found the net in the 53rd minute, off Javitt's third assist of the match. Down 5-1, the Owl's would respond immediately, as a deflected shot from outside the box looped into the far post. Two minutes later, Pocasangre responded with another goal. Sophomore midfielder Brayan Murillo headed a cross back into the box and Pocasangre headed the ball into an empty net for a 6-2 lead. Striker Abdoul Anounkou would find two more of his own to extend the lead to 8-2.

The Owls would strike again in the 83rd minute, when they found some space on the wing. The Owls would push into the edge of the box and find a far post strike for an 8-3 score line. Ramirez completed his brace and the scoring for the day in the 88th minute, as he slotted home a penalty kick.

The win saw the Raptors improve to 3-1 overall, 2-0 in the Conference. The Men will host the Carroll Lynx at MC's stadium in Rockville this Thursday, September 8, at 7:00 PM.
