Raptors Men's Soccer Defeat Monroe College in OT 1-0, Advance to East District Championship Final

In Saturday's East District Championship semifinal match in New Rochelle, NY, the Montgomery College Raptors men's soccer team defeated Monroe College in overtime 1-0. As a result, the Raptors improve to 13-4 and advance to next weekend's District final, returning to Montgomery College's home field.

It took until the 99th minute of the game, but the Raptors made their one shot on goal of the match count.

With a little over a minute to play in the first period of extra-time, Wilmer Escobar Jr. sent a free kick for the Raptors sailed from their half of the field into the Mustangs' half. From there, the Raptors won possession, and the ball found its way to Diego Ramirez, who slid a beautiful throw ball past the defense, to Andres Javitt, who was alone with the goalie and buried his first touch pasted the goalkeeper into the right corner of the net. That shot on goal was the Raptors' only shot on goal and was the game-winning goal at 98:27 to send the Raptors to the District finals.

Raptor's goalkeeper Marvin Mendez made seven saves to record his sixth clean slate of the season.

The Raptors will host Harford Community College Saturday, November 6th at 5:00 pm in the NJCAA DI East District Championship.
