Raptors Men’s Basketball Enters Region XX Tournament Play with 20-Win Regular Season
The Raptors men's basketball team defeated the Northern Virginia Nighthawks back on February 20th, 96-85, to record the team's 20th win of the regular season. Coach Byrd and the Raptors will enter the post season as the #7 seed and prepare for a rematch in the NJCAA Region XX DII Tournament Quarterfinal game against the #2 Howard CC Dragons Friday, March 7that 5:30 pm.
The Raptors were snuffed in their last meeting against the Dragons 100-90 on February 25th. Montgomery took a one-point lead into the locker room at halftime but couldn't hold off Howard down the line.
Isaiah Jennings led the Raptors offensively with 35 points and ten rebounds for his 17th double-double of the season and his eighth +30-point performance. Agyei Edwards followed up with 26 points his 17th +20-point game on the season, and Nicholas Johnson added 19 points for the Raptors.
The NJCAA Region XX DII Men's Basketball Tournament is hosted by Howard Community College (10901 Little Patuxent Parkway Columbia, MD 21044). Admission is for adults is $10.00 per day. Students, staff, and faculty from participating schools with College ID and kids 12 and under are free.
