MC Raptors Men’s Basketball Outlast Cross-County Rivals Prince George’s CC at Home in 90-84 Victory

In a Saturday afternoon matinee, Montgomery College Raptors men's basketball team defeated Prince George's CC Owls 90-84. The Raptors improved to 14-5, and move up to share the second spot in the MDJUCO at 6-1, ties with Howard CC.

The battle between the Maryland JUCO rivals was back and forth match, PG came out and hit their first four shot attempts of the game to take a 10-2 lead. The Raptors answered back with a five-minute 12-2 run of their own to take the lead. The first half of the game was an exciting back-and-forth battle with five ties and three lead changes. After a made free throw by AGYEI EDWARDS with 3:32 left in the first half, the Raptors didn't relinquish the lead the rest of the game and took a 12-point lead at the 9:18 mark of the second half. The Owls cut in close to tie the game up twice in the last two and half minutes of the game, but the final made-baskets by the Moore, Crawford, Jennings, Edwards, and Johnson helped push the Raptors to the six-point victory.

Jennings finished with a game-high 25 points and 13 rebounds while Edwards followed up with 24 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals making 10 for 16 from the charity stripe. Malik Abudu dropped 12 points, Nicholas Johnson finished with 9 points with three blocks, and Marlon Pratt recorded 8 points, six assists, five rebounds, and five assists in the 6-point victory!

The Raptors' next home game is Saturday, February 8th, at 3:30 pm against Frederick Community College. February 8th is the First Annual  Montgomery County Public Schools Day. The MC Raptors basketball teams are inviting all Montgomery County elementary, middle and high schools to come out, to enjoy an exciting afternoon of basketball, and help cheer on the MC Raptors to victory! This is a free event and the first 50 MCPS students will receive a gift bag.
