Late Innings Make The Difference In Doubleheader Split With Allegany

ROCKVILLE, Md. – The Montgomery College baseball program scored all six of its runs over their final three at-bats in Saturday’s 6-5 win in game one while the Trojans logged 11 of its 12 runs (91.7%) in the fourth through seventh innings during the 12-9 setback in the second contest.

It’s safe to say that Allegany will be facing nightmares about “math class” next week as Jonathan McMath terrorized ACM pitching to the tune of a .571 (4-of-7) batting average with six RBIs and 4 runs scored, belting two towering homers along with a double up rack up 11 total bases over 14 innings. He also for two outs on the mound with one K during the nightcap.

Sommers Turner and Ryan Mariani teamed up to strike out six batters while allowing four earned runs to allow MC to outlast Allegany as Mariani continues to stack wins at 7-1.

Tyris Benniefield had a single, double, and triple which made up his three base knocks, collecting one of each of the following stats as well; run, RBI, and a walk.

Andres Rivera sported double-double vision, collecting a two-bagger in both matchups while Cameron Goodling scored twice.

The Raptors will embark on one of its longest in-state road trips of the season on Tuesday when they travel to Bel Air for a 2:00pm and 4:30 pm doubleheader.
