Walk-Off Single by Ramsey Pushes Statesmen Past Raptors

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Baseball team moves to 7-2 overall, 2-1 in conference play after hosting Montgomery College (MD) Wednesday afternoon in a single, 9-inning, nonconference affair.  

 

Richard Bland took Wednesday's game in dramatic fashion, with an 11-10 walk-off victory over Montgomery College. The game was tied at 10 in the bottom of the ninth when Jordan Ramsey singled, scoring the winning run. Richard Bland collected 16 hits in the high-scoring affair. The Statesmen took the lead, 8-7, in the bottom of the sixth thanks to singles by Macho Santiago and Ashur Caraher. In the bottom of the eighth, they captured the lead again, 10-9 after Santiago doubled, and Landon Scott singled, each scoring one run. Santiago, Scott, and Ramsey each collected three hits for the Statesmen. Santiago went 3-for-6 at the plate as the infielder led the team with three runs batted in.

 

Reece Hamilton started on the mound for Richard Bland. The right0handed pitcher surrendered two hits and two runs over one inning, striking out one and walking two. Andrew Bottari pitched two innings of shutout ball for Richard Bland in relief. He surrendered one hit, striking out one and walking one.

 

The Richard Bland College baseball team next hosts Pitt Community College for their three-game series. Games one and two will take place on Saturday, February 24th beginning at 1pm. Game three is set for Sunday, February 25th at 12pm.
