Westmoreland gets back in the win column against Butler County Community College beating them by a final score of 86-73 on Thursday evening. The wolfpack notched their sixth win of the season and brought their overall home record to 5-6. Head coach, Scott Morrison said "it was a great team win and probably our most complete game we played all season." With the team's playoff hopes looking slim, Westmoreland showed a lot of grit and toughness playing one of their best games of the season.
In the first half, the two teams went back and fourth with Westmoreland maintaining a slight lead. Everytime Butler would get close, the wolfpack would make a shot or get a stop to keep the lead. Late in the first half the Wolfpack would go on a run and extend their lead to 41-28 at halftime. Colin Masten showed why he is one of Westmoreland's top players by leading the team in the first half with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
The wolfpack would continue to grow their lead in the second half keeping a sixteen to twenty point lead much of the time and always keeping a double digit lead the entire second half. Colin Masten finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds for the wolfpack. Up next, Westmoreland will host Montgomery on Sunday for a region 20 conference game.
