CCBC Catonsville vs Montgomery College (MD) Game 1 Recap

CCBC Catonsville vs Montgomery College (MD) Game 1 Recap

On April 13th, the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals hosted Montgomery College (MD) Raptors in a double header. In the first game of the double header the cardinals would lose this game in a pitcher's duel 3-1 and lose their first game in Region XX.

After a scoreless first inning by both teams in the second inning the Raptors would get on the board first after they scored on an error. But it looked like cardinals would get that run back and maybe even some more as they loaded the bases with no outs after Nelson Grajales (Arundel) reached on an error by the third baseman then Gavin Faulkner (Edgewater) would single, and Alex Valdez (Blair) would also reach on an error by the pitcher. But they wouldn't score, and the score would stay 1-0.

After a couple more scoreless innings by both the Cardinals and Raptors pitchers in the top of the fifth inning, the Raptors would make their lead larger after the single to score two runs to make the score 3-0.

But in the 6th inning, it looked like the Cardinals were showing some fight after Nelson Grajales got hit by a pitch Gavin Faulkner would hit another single that would score Grajales. But they wouldn't be able to put any more runs on the board as they headed into the seventh. Making the score 3-1.

After a scoreless top half of the seventh by Andrew Bubon (Lake Brantley). The Cardinals looked like they were going to put up a fight after a one out double by Tyler Sankovich (Laurel Highlands), but the Cardinals couldn't capitalize on that double as they struck out twice to end the game and losing their first Region XX game 3-1.
