Raptors Volleyball Routed Catamounts; Dealt First Loss After 11-Game Win Streak

The Montgomery College volleyball team downed the Potomac State College Catamounts in straight sets to bring their winning streak to 11 games. Montgomery's Daniella Zajac and Anya Chepurnova each had 16 kills while Skyler Thiessen had 41 digs, and teammate Kira Ng recorded 44 assists the Raptors 25-17, 25-17, 25-15 regional victory. 

The Raptors put forth a valiant effort against Monroe College on Tuesday, but would ultimately end their 11-game winning streak and fell to their opponents in straight sets, 13-25, 19-25, 18-25.

On Tuesday, October 1st, the Raptors quickly bounced to defeat Richard Bland College in straight sets 25-13, 25-19, 25-18. MC's Anya Chepurnova dominated the match with 15 kills; 7 digs, and four aces. Kira Ng tallied 33 assists in the match.

Statistically, the Raptors have the second-best hitting percentage in the country .315%, and third-best Service Aces per set with 3.67. Ng is eighth in the country with 9.62 assists per set and has a total of 375 assists on the year. A Chepurnova is fourth in the country with a .414 hitting percentage, tenth in the country with 4.8 points per set and 15th in kills per set with 3.69 k/s. The Raptors are 12-1 overall and are first in the MDJUCO conference with a record of 7-0.

The Raptor's next home game will be a tri-match on Saturday, October 19th against Community College of Rhode Island and Potomac State College of WVU starting at 12pm.
