Undefeated Raptors Volleyball Rides 10-Game Winning Streak

The Montgomery College Raptors volleyball team has played a perfect 30 sets to begin the season to start 10-0 in the first ten matches. The Raptors average almost 11 kills per set and a .335 team hitting percentage led by sophomore Anya Chepurnova with .442 (third in the nation).

The Raptors are in first place in the Maryland JuCo Conference beating College of Southern Maryland, Harford Community College and Garrett College at home. The Raptors also downed Allegany College of Maryland, Frederick Community College, CCBC Essex, and Howard Community College on the road to boast a 7-0 conference record.

Stat leaders for the Raptors thus far in the season include sophomore Anya Chepurnova with 3.47 kills per set, and Daniella Zajac leads the team with 85 kills. Kira Ng recorded 263 assists (9.74 assists per set (9th in the nation), while Skyler Thiessen leads the team with 121 digs, and Taylor Lewis has recorded 26 service aces, averaging almost one per set.

The Raptor's next home game will be Friday, September 27th against Monroe College at 6:00 p.m.
