Volleyball Starts Off The 2017 Season at .500

The Montgomery College Raptors volleyball team is off to a solid start to their 2017 season winning three of their first six games. The Raptors played their first game of the season at the Howard CC Invitational Tournament. The Raptors won their first game in three straight sets to Community College of Beaver County 25-20, 25-21, 25-17. Later that day, the Raptors faced a MDJUCO Conference opponent College of Southern Maryland where the Raptors lost 3-1; 25-23, 20-25, 18-25, 15-25. The Raptors won their final game of the day in three straight sets against Allegany College of Maryland to finish in second place in their pool. The Raptors were eliminated from the double elimination tournament on the second day after MC lost to Community College of Rhode Island 3-1. 

In a back and forth match on Wednesday, September 6, the Raptors were determined to make a name for themselves as a top contender in the MDJUCO as they faced off against Harford CC. The Raptors were a couple of hits from having a couple of sets end differently, but MC fell to Harford CC 3-0, 25-20, 25-23, 25-16.

However the Raptors bounced back on Thursday, September 7th against Chesapeake winning in straight sets 3-0; 26-6, 25-10, 27-25. Erica Morton recorded 12 kills on 19 total attacks, and Christinana Wilhelm-Glab dished out 23 assists in Thursday victory over Chesapeake. 

The Raptors are 3-3 overall and sit tied for sixth place in the MDJUCO Conference with a record of 1-1. MC returns home on Tuesday, September 19th to host Garrett College on the Rockville Campus in the main gym.
