Justina Ababio Wins National Championship in Discus; Women's Track & Field Team Finishes 7th at NJCAA DIII Track and Field Nationals!

The MC Raptors Women's Track and Field Team finished seventh place in the nation with the Raptors making several trips to the podium at the NJCAA DIII Track and Field National Championships hosted by Howard Community College.  

MC freshman, Justina Ababio, won a national championship in the women's discus with a throw of 32.94m in addition to placing third in the shot put and hammer throw. Ababio was named NJCAA Eastern Region Field Athlete of the Year. Teammate Alyssa Moran was named NJCAA Eastern Region Track Athlete of the Year and head coach Jamaal Schools was named NJCAA Eastern Region Coach of the Year.  

Kimberly Stamets placed third in the 400m with a time of 1:01.13 while teammate Kate Rose Turlik finished in eighth in the 800m with a time of 2:33.68. Alyssa Moran placed sixth in the 100m with a time of 12.93 and seventh in the 200m with a time of 26.51.  

The women's 4x400m relay team (Kimberly Stamets, Kate Rose Turlik, Djamila Zangre & Alyssa Moran) finished in fifth place with a time 4:26.05 and the 4x200m relay team (Jade Zhang, Kimberly Stamets, Jerminah Joseph & Alyssa Moran) placed third with a time of 51.83, just two second behind silver.
