Women's Soccer, #4 in the Nation, Sends Statement with 6-0 Win Over D1 Mercer CCC and 4-0 Victory Over CCBC Essex

The MC women's soccer team defeated Mercer County CC 6-0 on Wednesday and CCBC Essex 4-0 on Thursday to extend its winning streak seven games. Mercer entered the game with only one loss and winners of five straight. The Raptors got off to an early start with an unassisted goal from Jaime Montgomery in the 10th minute of the game. Claire Couturier scored the second goal of the game off a rebound in the 19th minute. Raptors sophomore Ariella Amaguana added a goal of her own followed up by another goal from Couturier to give the MC a comfortable 5-0 lead at halftime. Jamie Montgomery scored her third goal of the game and 17th goal in six games.

The Raptors showed their talent against CCBC Essex by keeping them on their half of the field for most of the game. Couturier scored her 15th goal of the season in the 32 minute to give her team a 1-0 in the first half. Alejandra Ramos scored two goals four minutes apart at the start of the second half to extend the lead. Nathaly Alvear scored an unassisted goal in the 79th minute to wrap up the Raptors eighth shutout victory of the season.

This season the MC Raptors have outscored their opponents 55 to six and sit atop the MDJUCO conference at 6-0 and ranked #4 in the NJCAA. The women's soccer team has 5 more games in the regular season two of which are at home at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
