Women's Soccer Stays Unbeaten, Outscores Opponents 42-3 to Start Season and Vaults to #6 Nationally

The Montgomery College women's soccer team continues to tear through their competition! Only seven games into the season the Raptors have outscored their opponents 42-3 scoring an average of six goals a game. Sophomore Nathaly Alvear leads the nation with 14 assists, six more than the player second in the nation. 

The team has defeated Rowan Burlington, Cecil College, Oxford Emory, DuPage College and most recently Harford Community College, CCBC Catonsville and Camden County College. In the latest NJCAA DIII poll, MC is ranked sixth. 

Last week MC beat Division 1 MDJUCO opponent Harford CC on the road 3-2. Montgomery's Jaime Montgomery scored twice in the first half. Freshman Britanny Schultz followed with a goal to give the Raptors a 3-0 lead. Harford was able to find the back of the net twice but MC held off the threat for the win. 

The Raptors shut out CCBC Catonsville in Baltimore 6-0 last Friday. MC sophomore Claire Couturier scored three goals, Jamie Montgomery scored twice and Angela Patino added a goal in the contest. 

Montgomery defeated Camden County College 7-0 for the teams fifth shut-out of the year. 
Raptor's co-captain Alejandra Ramos scored the team's first goal. Freshman Ariella Amaguana followed up a with a goal. Couturier scored two goals and Jamie Montgomery scored a hat trick.

The Raptors are undefeated and are leading the nation in goals (42) and corner kicks (40). The team is second in assists (39) and shots on goal (98). In addition to Nathaly Alvear's success, Claire Couturier is third in the nation in points with 24, follow closely by teammate Alvear with 21.
