MC Women's Soccer, Ranked #15 in the Nation, Blanks Rowan in Season Opener

The Raptors women's soccer team started their season off hosting Rowan College at Burlington County at Gaithersburg High School on August 28.  

Co-captain Alejandra Ramos scored the first goal for the Raptors giving MC the lead going into halftime. Teammate Ariella Amaguana scored two goals in the first eight minutes of the second half to jump start the flurry of Montgomery goals. Claire Couturier, Nathaly Alvear and Britanny Schultz all followed with goals of their own to give the Raptors the 6-0 victory.  

The win build's on last year success. Under the guidance of head coach Phil Nana, the Montgomery College women's soccer team won the NJCAA DIII Region XX Title.  

The team has six homes games throughout the 17-game regular season schedule including a regional finalist match up against Howard Community College (ranked #9 in preseason poll) on September 21.  

The Raptors will open up their conference on August 30 with a game at Cecil College. The team will travel to Oxford, GA to play games against Oxford College of Emory University (ranked #5 in preseason poll) and College of DuPage (ranked #6 in preseason poll) on September 3 and 4.  

Two away MDJUCO conference games await the team the following week and Montgomery College will host Camden County College (NJ) in the team's second home game of the season.  

The Raptors women's soccer team will look to continue to build on their success from last year. The team ended their 2015 season in the NJCAA District H Finals losing to Oxford College of Emory University in a shootout, finishing with a record of 10-5-1.
