Women’s Basketball Starts 2019 at .500 with Two Divisional Wins

Since January 1, the women's basketball team is 2-2 with wins over NJCAA Division II opponents Hagerstown and College of Southern MD. These victories will have postseason seeding implications in both the Maryland Juco Conference Tournament and the Region XX Tournament.

The Montgomery Raptors defeated Hagerstown CC 73-49 in the first game of the new year. Alexis Mack and Nusaibah Rashad each finished with 17 points while Rashad added 19 rebounds and Mack dished out 5 assists. Jordan Odom scored 9 points and Kenydi Cross dropped 8 points with 5 assists and 3 dimes in the 24-point conference win.

The Raptors won their most recent contest by 20 points defeating the College of Southern Maryland Hawks 78-58 on Saturday, January 16. Destiny Batts recorded her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 19 boards. Mack led the way in scoring for her team with 25 points and 12 rebounds followed by Odom who scored 24 points. Cross also scored 14 points and tallied 5 rebounds, four assists and three steals in the Raptors fifth conference win of the season.

The Raptors improved their overall record to 10-7 and 5-3 in the conference. The Raptors next three contests are away starting at Prince George's Community College on Wednesday, January 23rd at 5:00 pm, at Baltimore City on Saturday, January 26th at 1:00 pm, and at Potomac State College of WVU on Monday, January 28th at 5:00 pm. The Raptors return home on Saturday, February 2nd to host Cecil College at 1:30 pm.
