Women’s Basketball Sweeps Tip-Off Tournament Field

The Raptors women's basketball team improved their record to 3-2 on the season after MC hosted its Tip-Off Tournament this past weekend as the team picked up two wins against Morton College Panthers (IL) 100-35 and Northern Virginia Nighthawks 90-64.

On Saturday, The Raptors took care of business early in their matchup against Morton College as Montgomery scored more points in the second quarter than the Panthers scored in the entire first half of the game.

Montgomery applied strong defense throughout the game to cause 34 turnovers for the Panthers which held their opponents to nine second-half points. Five Raptors recorded double-digit points, Armonie Lomax leading the way with 19 points, and the bench contributed 41 points in the 65-point victory.

On Sunday, everybody that suited up for MC Raptors got to see the floor for the second game in a row in the contest against Northern Virginia. Alandra Bandy scored a team-high 19 points and had three steals in only 20 minutes of play. Lomax followed up with 15 points, five assists, five rebounds, and four steals while teammate Lauren Nelson came off the bench to add 13 points. Caleema Johnson recorded a game-high 13 rounds and recorded 7 points, four assist and three steals in the 26-point victory over the Nighthawks.

The Raptors have their first conference game Wednesday, November 15th at 5:30 pm at home (on the Rockville Campus) against Frederick. The Raptors then go on the road for a matchup against Pennsylvania Highlands CC on Saturday, November 18th and away again on Tuesday, November 21st at Cecil College. The Raptors finish off the month at home after the Thanksgiving break on Wednesday the 29th at 5:30 pm against Potomac State College of WVA (on the Rockville Campus).
