Raptors Women's Basketball Climbs to 10th in the National Poll

The Raptors women's basketball team is currently ranked 10th in the nation as they finish 2016 with an overall record of 11-3 and 4-1 in the MDJUCO. Thus far in the season, the Raptors have scored more points than any other team in the NJCAA DIII and are first in the nation in steals per game with 24; and fifth in points per game scoring with an average of 82.4 pts per game.  

The team dominated Erie Community College in the first round of the MC Holiday Tournament but fell to Monroe College in the championship game. In the first game against Erie CC, four Raptors finished with double-digit points including freshman guard Anu Bamijoko. She finished with 11 points and 19 rebounds in the 82-39 victory to advance to the championship game.

The Raptors women's basketball lost a nail biter to Monroe College in the championship game 73-65. Armonie Lomax scored seven points in the second quarter to bring her team within four points at the half way mark as MC trailed 34-30. The Raptors defense couldn't capitalize on the stops they were getting in the third quarter as their deficits grew to eight points by the beginning of the fourth quarter. Despite Lomax's game high 24 point showing to go along with four assists, the Raptors lost to Monroe College 73-65 to place second in the MC holiday Tournament.
