Raptors Men’s Soccer Blanks Onondaga CC and Ulster County CC to Open 2018 Season

The Montgomery College men's soccer team officially started their 2018-19 campaign this past Saturday August, 27 & 28, with a road trip to New York. The trip started in Syracuse, NY where the team stopped to play the No. 9 nationally ranked Onondaga Community College Lazers from Region III and pick up their first win of the season 3-0. The next day, Montgomery traveled to Stone Ridge, NY to play the Ulster County Community College Senators, MC's first Division I opponent since making the leap from DIII to DI, where the Raptors picked up a decisive victory over Ulster County 7-0.

The Raptors defense blanked both opponents over the two game road trip as freshman goalkeeper Parker Shugars made eight saves to preserve a 1.000 save percentage. Montgomery's 2017 NJCAA All- American, Youness Benmouna tallied four goals and two assists over the two-game road stent, while classmate Kenny Fuentes added a goal in each of the games. Alex Villatoro and Sahor "Pa" Keluntang each recorded a goal over the weekend while freshman Daniel Tshiani netted his first career goal and recorded two assists in Sunday's match against the Senators. Carlos Contreras found the back of the net to score his first career goal as a Raptor.
