Men's Basketball Rattles Off Three Wins in a Row After Stumbling to Frederick CC

The MC men's basketball team is 5-2 and on a three-game winning streak as Head Coach Keith Byrd and the Raptors prepare for their final game in November against Potomac State College of WVU on Wednesday, November 29th at 7:30 p.m. at Rockville.

After sweeping their competition at the MC Tipoff Tournament, the Raptors had a small stumble in their first conference contest falling to Frederick CC (3-1) 73-61. The Raptors got right back on track winning their next two games on the road at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College (1-2) 107-94 and Cecil College (2-4) 80-74.

In the game against Penn Highlands, the country's leading scorer, Collin Turner put up 21 points while Freddie Harris also put up 21 points and pulled down ten rebounds for Montgomery. MC sophomore guard Chris Johnson added 18 points and seven assists while freshman teammate Jomaite Tavarez recorded 19 points and seven rebounds coming off the bench.

In Montgomery's MDJUCO match up against Cecil College, Turner went off for 47 points, 26 coming in the second half, to help the Raptors come back from an early 12 point deficit to pull off the six-point victory.

The Raptors picked up their fifth win of the season Saturday over the Thanksgiving break against a talented Harrisburg Area Community College (4-2) squad 95-92. Harris recorded 24 points on 11 field goals out of 17 attempts and grabbed 17 rebounds while teammate Tyran Crawford came off the bench to score 10 points and hit a big FG late in the game to put MC up. Raptors freshman Elisha Arnold recorded a season-high 12 points and seven rebounds the in the win.
