Men's Basketball Defeats PGCC in OT to Claim the 2017 NJCAA DIII Region XX Title!

On Saturday, February 26, the MC Raptors dominated CCAC Allegheny in the semi-finals 92-77. MC had six players scored in double figures. Shekinah Mondoua had 19 points followed by Isaac Akwara with 18 points who hit 4-5 from three. Patrick Smith finished with 16 points and 16 rebounds while teammate Ramel Davidson added a dozen points and 11 rebounds. Chris Johnson added 14 points and eight assists. The Raptors stole the ball 14 times and out rebounded their opponent 49-36.

On Sunday February 26 the Raptors defeated last year's Region XX Champs, the Prince George's CC Owls in OT 108-79. Andre Hodo dropped 27 points shooting 93% from the free throw line making 14 for 15 while also pulling down 13 rebounds. Mondoua and Chris Johnson adds 18 points and Johnson dished out 6 assists. Patrick Smith added 8 points, 15 rebounds, 4 block, 4 assists and 3 steals. The Raptors out rebounded the Owls 55-49. 

The Raptors took care of business in the 5-minute overtime frame outscoring the owls 23-10 to claim the 2017 NJCAA DIII Region XX Title.

Andre Hodo was selected as the Tournament MVP and Patrick Smith was named to the All Region XX Tournament Team.

The Raptors women's team will travel to Oxford, GA to Oxford Emory to play NJCAA DIII District 7 Championship on March 3rd against West Georgia Tech.
