Men's Basketball Ends Regular Season with Win at NoVa; Up Next: Defending Their Title as MDJUCO Champions.

The Raptors men's basketball team defeated Hagerstown CC, a Division I MDJUCO opponent, 78-63 on Saturday February 5th to solidify a spot in the highly competitive MDJUCO Conference Tournament. Five Raptors scored in double figures and two recorded double doubles. Freshman Ramel Davidson had 13 points while classmate Shekinah Mondoua and sophomore Isaac Akwara each added a dozen points. MC's team captain Patrick Smith had his standard 19 points and 15 rebound performance, but Andre Hodo lead the way, scoring a team-high 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in the 15-point victory.

The final game for the Raptors men's basketball team on February 7 was a nail bitter as they traveled to play Northern Virginia Nighthawks. MC was up by two points at halftime 30-28 and both teams came out of the break looking to score. The Raptors were up eight points with two and half to play as the Nighthawks fought and climbed back within two points. With seconds winding down NoVa's layup up to tie to the game was blocked by Shekinah Mondoua with four seconds to preserve the Raptors 2-point victory. Patrick Smith finished with 18 points as, Davidson, Akwara and Hodo each added 12 points in the Raptors final victory of the regular season.

The men's basketball team dropped a tough battle on the road against Allegany College of MD 93-76.

The MC Men's basketball team concludes the 2016-17 regular season winning 18 games, finishing one win shy of last year's regular season record. The Raptors finish with an impressive overall record of 18-8, beating every team in their division and taking down a top 5 Nationally Ranked Nassau CC from NY. The Raptors have recorded at least one win against every team in the MDJUCO Conference during the first two years of Coach Byrd's tenure. The Raptors are looking to defend their title as MDJUCO Champions as they will play in the MDJUCO Conference tournament February 16-19 hosted at Chesapeake College. The tournament schedule and seeding are TBA.

Following the conference tournament, Montgomery College will host the NJCAA DIII Region XX Basketball Tournament at the Rockville Campus February 24-26. The tournament schedule and seeding are TBA. The journey to the NJCAA DIII National Tournament starts at Montgomery College.
