Men's Basketball Pummels Chesapeake, Drops Nailbiter to Garrett

This past weekend, Raptors men's basketball team defeated Chesapeake College, 109-91. Montgomery College's 18-point victory was led by Patrick Smith who finished with a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds. The Montgomery College men's basketball is currently sitting in sixth place in a highly completive MDJCUO Conference standings.

Back in late November the MC Raptors added two conference games to their win column with a 13-point victories over Anne Arundel Community College at home and a 25-point win on the road against Howard Community College. Poor free throw shooting down the stretch and some missed opportunities caused the Raptors to drop a tough double overtime loss to undefeated Garrett 76-75 on Saturday, December 3.

The Raptors bounced back from their one-point loss with a 99-78 victory over Pennsylvania Highlands on Tuesday, December 6th. The Raptors leading point scorer, Collin Turner contributed 20 points coming off the bench and shot 8 for 8 from the free throw line.

Thus far in the season, Chris Johnson, Patrick Smith and Collin Turner have combined to average 45 points per game for the Raptors and Smith has averaged at least 10 rebounds per game. The Montgomery College men's basketball team looks to continue their winning ways in the tournament after their most recent double digit victory where five Raptors scored in double figures.

Come check out the MC men's basketball team this weekend at MC Holiday tournament at the Rockville Campus. The Raptors will play Erie Community College at 7 p.m. on Saturday December 17 in the main gym. Visit http://www.MCRaptors.com for full tournament schedule, game updates and team news.
