After the Raptors men’s basketball team had claimed the NJCAA Region XX DIII Championship for the first time under second-year Coach Keith Byrd, the team traveled to Covington, Georgia to compete in the NJCAA District Championship.

On Sunday February 26 the Raptors defeated last year's Region XX Champs, the Prince George's CC Owls in OT 108-79. Andre Hodo was selected as the Tournament MVP and Patrick Smith was named to the All Region XX Tournament Team. The Raptors women's team will travel to Oxford, GA to Oxford Emory to play NJCAA DIII District 7 Championship on March 3rd against West Georgia Tech.

MC's Patrick Smith was named MDJUCO Player of the Year. This is the second year in a row that a player from the Montgomery College men's basketball team has received this award. Smith was also named to the 2016-17 First Team All-MD JUCO men's basketball team.

The Raptors men’s basketball team defeated Hagerstown CC, a Division I MDJUCO opponent, 78-63 on Saturday February 5th to solidify a spot in the highly competitive MDJUCO Conference Tournament. Five Raptors scored in double figures and two recorded double doubles. Freshman Ramel Davidson had 13 points while classmate Shekinah Mondoua and sophomore Isaac Akwara each added a dozen points. MC's team captain Patrick Smith had his standard 19 points and 15 rebound performance, but Andre Hodo lead the way, scoring a team-high 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in the 15-point victory.

The MC men's basketball team has made it through the toughest month of their schedule 6-3 defeating Frederick and Brookdale Community Colleges (CC). The Raptors have played 23 games so far this season and are 16-7 overall and 7-5 in the conference, sitting tied for sixth in a very competitive MDJUCO standings.

On January 7, MC men's basketball team needed an extra frame to defeat Cecil College 86-84. Throughout the contest there were 16 lead changes and 11 ties. Cecil's largest lead was 10 points with 16 minutes to play in the 2nd half. MC's largest lead was five with 6:26 to play in the second half. Patrick Smith finished with 24 points and 20 rebounds while teammate Andre Hodo finished with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Chris Johnson added 17 points and six assists in the two-point overtime victory.

This past weekend, Raptors men's basketball team defeated Chesapeake College, 109-91. Montgomery College's 18-point victory was led by Patrick Smith who finished with a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds. The Montgomery College men's basketball is currently sitting in sixth place in a highly completive MDJCUO Conference standings.
