Nationally Ranked Raptors Baseball Sweeps Prince George's CC to Stay Undefeated at Home

Despite the cold March weather, the Montgomery College Raptors baseball team is red-hot winning nine out of their last 12 games and have a 7-0 record at home. The Raptors are currently in third place in the Maryland JUCO with a conference record of 5-2 and have 12-5 overall record entering the Month of April.

The MC baseball team rattled off five straight wins in the first half of March starting on March 9th with two wins against Community College of Allegheny County-Boyce 10-5 and 11-1 while also down CCBC Essex the following day 2-1 and 6-3. The Raptors started their Spring Break road trip with a 9-1 victory over Surry Community College (NC) on March 14th and split a double header with Rockingham Community College the next day, dropping game one 4-0 and winning the night cap 5-3.

The Raptors only two MDJUCO losses came on March 18 on the road against Harford CC, the top team in the conference, 9-3 and 14-1. Montgomery had to cancel or reschedule six games due to the cold, wet and sometimes snowy weather that plagued the region.

However, on March 27th, the Raptors were able to rebound from their setback and unseasonable break with a walk-off victory against Allegany College of Maryland 9-8.

On March 31st, the Raptors continued their winning ways as they swept Prince George's Community College 11-4 in the opener and 12-10 in the nightcap. Sophomore Clayton Dwyer picked up his fifth win of the season in game one pitching six and a third innings allowing only one earned run on six hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. MC sophomore, Austin Grass set the tone offensively hitting five for seven to tally three runs and 3 RBIs on the day with a home run in game one and a double in game two. Will Burgess, Sean Sullivan, Brendan Grass, and Harold Marte combined for eight RBIs and each added home runs for Montgomery College on the day to help sweep their MD JUCO and NJCAA Region XX Division III opponents, the Prince George's Community College Owls.
